I received my PhD in Geology in England and I have always worked in the oil industry. I switched from science to training is the mid 1980's when the oil and gas industry was laying off specialists who were considered "old" at 45. I was able to turn the mass of underemployed specialists into a team of mentors assigned to international joint ventures around the world.
In the 90's I started giving seminars in companies on mentoring and setting up guided mentoring programs, but I was not happy with the results. Mandated mentoring programs in companies are literally forced on the staff because someone in head office thinks it will be good for them. For mentoring to be successful the protégé must want a mentor. More importantly the protégé must seek and find his or her own mentor. This is not how mandated programs work - unfortunately. I have now written a book that provides a step-by-step system for finding mentors, using them and leaving them so that both the mentor and the protégé are winners. PICKING UP MENTORS ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS is a guide to success for anyone who seeks wisdom from the successful. Now I am offering this information through this website while I travel the world helping successful people find even greater success.
Throughout the text of the website and the text of the book you will see the little guy we call "Dowit Wright". A friend, John Wright, who used the cartoon to illustrate a short story about his first attempt to climb a mountain created him.
